Paper View

People always talk about the importance of "the process" in a work of art. Whether the process is indispensable in assuring a positive end product or if the product could have been achieved regardless of the process. This argument is true in all art related matter, from a sculpture to a T-shirt. It often reminds me of "The Chicken or The Egg" story, everyone seems to know what came first...

I, as an artist myself, like to think that the process is key to a successful end product. "Successful" being the key-word when referring to a matter as subjective as anything in the art field.
Right about now you might be wondering what all this blabbering has anything to do with My Next Obsession???  My latest post is solemnly dedicated to my submission for the 16th annual Jumpstart competition at Moore College of Art and Design.

This Year's theme was "Paper view", which consisted of making a dress out of paper, that reflected a time period in Fashion history. In my particular case the 20's.

This blog entry walks you thru "My Process" in a series of images, starting from the first sliced sheet of newspaper to the final garment, which has placed second two years in a row!!!
Without further ado I bring you "Flapping the Pages"

STYLE FEATURE

MISS MARCH

Hello Lovelies,
Spring is around the corner, and even though fall and winter are my favorite seasons I have to admit that I can not wait for it to be here. In my attempt to expedite this process I thought it appropriate to bring you back my Style Feature of the Month in the form of a hot new face, with great style of course. Luli who not only is a talented model with a fierce walk, also happens to collaborate with My Next Obsession as one of my Photographer on Duty, and is responsible for some of the most amazing shots on this blog.

This Southamerican beauty has pose for some killer shots and answer some questions about style, fashion and everything in between. Without further ado I give you Miss March.

The Look

The Interview

DA: How would you describe your personal style?

LA: I would describe my style as trendy with a lay back feel to it.

DA: How and when did  you decide you wanted to become a model?

LA: I always had an interest in it, but I knew for sure after I did my first ad campaing

DA: How about a photographer?

LA: I never thought I would be one even though I always liked it. However it wasn't until I started taking pictures that I realized I had an eye for it. As a model its interesting seeing things from another perspective.

DA: Who is your favorite Designer?

LA: There are two, and very different from each other at that. I like Ralph Lauren because of its clean lines and classic look, and Marc Jacobs because his designs would give any look a fun twist.

DA: If you could be the face of any fashion house, Which one would it be?

LA: Versace

DA: What was your biggest fashion Fuax pas of all times?

LA: When I was in middle school I went through a face where I would wear head to toe monochromatic looks or in other words "head to toe matchy matchy outfits".

DA: What piece of fashion advise would you give to all the fashionistas out there?

LA: Always be true to your personality when it comes to style

Here is a video of her latest fashion show. Enjoy!!

HAPPY VALENTINE"S DAY

Hi Everyone,

February is truly a lovely month, and no I don't mean this because of Valentine's, more like despite of it... lol Anyhow I thought, what better way to show my appreciation for what I do, than to post a Valentine-esc look of the day!! I guess my inspiration could be called dead romance!!!
And because love is in the air I thought it only fair if you got to see the note in which I pour myself in.

Dear Bunny Paul Smith Tee,
I truly love you.
I don't know how I ever wore that leather mini before you came into the picture.
PS: You would never be just another Tee.

Truly Yours,
D

Press

Hi everyone,

I know I haven't posted much in a little while, believe me when I tell you, I have been impossibly busy these past two weeks. The development of my menswear collection/project, and my swimwear submission, as well as a few other exciting projects which you will soon see on My Next Obsession have taken complete control over my schedule.

This post however is not to justify my lack of time, or influence over the cosmos to add a few extra hours a day (I only wish), but to share with you one of my latest collaboration with Brittiny from Fashion of Philly!!! To check it out click HERE!!

Thank you Brittiny!!!

Look of the Day

I was working on some new projects with friend and model Luli, which you will soon see on My Next Obsession, and got talking about fashion, blogging and looks. As I mentioned before fashion week is in the air, not just in NYC, but a little bit closer to home, "Philly", and we are very excited to see what the city has to offer.
There are gonna be many new designers showing this season, but amongst the up and comings, we are keeping our eye out for Amaresinh, who is gonna show for the first time as a local philadelphian fashion label.
Today's Look is wrapped around my newest Obsession, the "Dolman Sleeve top" by Amaresinh. This sweatshirt looking top has me begging for more!!! The sexy neck line and relaxed over-size shoulders contrasting with its short and fitted waist, can be worn in so many ways that I had the hardest time figuring out how to go about styling it. My favorite part of this piece, however, has to be the clever detailing on the sleeves with the cutest cargo pockets, and straps that cinch in at the end adding a touch of bad-ass to this subtle garment.
If you feel like you can spruce up your wardrobe, and are on a one piece budget, I highly recommend this little number. Trust me you will not be disappointed.
Hope you enjoy it!!

Special Thx to my Photographer on Duty luli!!! <3
Feel free to tell me what you think. I would love to hear your feed back!!
